• Corporate & Incentive Travel Destinations

Corporate incentive travel destinations, where to send your top performers.

A practical destination shortlist for corporate retreats and incentive trips, matched to group size, investment per person, and what the program needs to feel like.

The most common mistake in incentive travel destination selection is choosing the destination before the program is defined. A President's Club trip for 30 top performers wants a different venue than a 150-person sales kickoff, and both want something different from a 12-person executive board retreat. Before we shortlist a single resort or ship, we pin down four variables: how many people are going, what the company is prepared to invest per person, how long the flight is from the departure cities your attendees actually live near, and what the trip needs to feel like when guests step off the plane, gravitas, reward, alignment, or celebration. Those four answers eliminate most of the map and leave two or three destinations that genuinely fit. What follows is the shortlist we return to most often, with the group size, season, budget, and use case each one earns its place on.

• The destination shortlist

Five destinations, matched to the program.

01

Caribbean All-Inclusive Resorts

Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Jamaica

Caribbean and Mexico all-inclusive resorts are the workhorse of the incentive travel category, and for good reason. The perceived value is enormous: guests arrive at a beachfront property, every meal and drink is already paid for, the meeting space is on site, and the logistics collapse into one venue. For a 40- to 150-person incentive trip, that combination is hard to beat.

Riviera Maya in Mexico gives you the deepest inventory of premium all-inclusive properties, from Hotel Xcaret to Secrets and Excellence, all within 90 minutes of a major US gateway airport. Los Cabos trades the jungle for desert-meets-ocean drama and draws a slightly more premium guest profile, ideal for top-performer programs that want to feel distinct from a standard Cancun trip. Jamaica, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, rounds out the shortlist with strong resort inventory and shorter flight times from the East Coast.

The trade-off is familiarity. Caribbean all-inclusives are popular precisely because they are reliable, which means top performers who travel often may have already been. We counter that with off-property programming, catamaran charters, cenote adventures, private chef dinners, and resort buyouts that turn a known destination into a private experience. When the goal is reward and celebration at scale, this is where most incentive programs should start.

Ideal group size
40-150
Best time of year
November-April (avoid hurricane season)
Investment per person
$2,500-$3,800 all-in
Why it works
Highest perceived value per dollar; one-venue logistics; easy group air from US hubs.
02

Alaska Cruises

President's Club and milestone awards

Alaska is the destination you reach for when the program needs to feel once-in-a-career rather than once-a-year. A seven-night Alaska cruise out of Seattle or Vancouver delivers glaciers, wildlife, and frontier scenery that most of your top performers have never seen up close, packaged inside a premium ship where the service level and dining match the surroundings.

This is the classic President's Club destination. The group size that works best is 25 to 80, small enough to fill a premium suite category and host private dinners, large enough to justify a group contract with shipboard credit and a private reception. The investment per person runs higher than a Caribbean all-inclusive because the cruise fare, premium air to Seattle or Vancouver, and pre-cruise hotel nights add up, but the perceived value is in a different tier entirely.

Best time of year is May through September, with the shoulder weeks of May and September offering better group rates and fewer crowds. The challenge is lead time: premium suite inventory on the best Alaska ships sells out 10 to 14 months in advance. For a milestone anniversary, a retirement celebration, or a President's Club that has outgrown the Caribbean, Alaska is the move that signals the company invested in something rare.

Ideal group size
25-80
Best time of year
May-September (shoulder weeks best value)
Investment per person
$3,500-$5,000 all-in
Why it works
Rare, high-prestige scenery; premium ship service; clear milestone signal.
03

Mediterranean Cruises

Gravitas for executive retreats

A Mediterranean cruise is the destination that adds gravitas without losing the convenience of a single floating venue. Seven to twelve nights sailing the Greek Isles, the Amalfi Coast, or the French and Italian Riviera puts your group in front of scenery most incentive programs never reach, while keeping everyone on one ship with one set of logistics.

Where the Caribbean is reward and Alaska is milestone, the Mediterranean is gravitas. It reads as the company investing in culture and access, not just a party. That makes it the strongest choice for executive retreats, board offsites, and leadership alignment programs where the tone matters as much as the destination. Group size runs 30 to 120 comfortably; smaller groups can take a premium suite block on a luxury ship, larger groups move toward a partial-ship charter.

The season is tight: June through September is the window, with July and August commanding the highest fares and the most crowded ports. May, June, and September deliver better group rates and a calmer experience. The investment per person is the highest in the cruise category because of the transatlantic air, the longer sailings, and the premium ship inventory. For a program that needs to feel important rather than festive, the Mediterranean is the answer.

Ideal group size
30-120
Best time of year
May, June, September (avoid July-August peak)
Investment per person
$4,000-$6,000 all-in
Why it works
Cultural gravitas; single-venue convenience; strong executive-retreat signal.
04

Europe City Breaks

Lisbon, Barcelona, Amalfi Coast

Europe city breaks are the choice for executive retreats and leadership offsites that want to leave the resort format behind entirely. Lisbon, Barcelona, and the Amalfi Coast each offer a walkable historic core, a deep bench of boutique and design hotels, private dining venues with a sense of place, and enough cultural weight to make the offsite feel like a real change of scenery.

Lisbon is the value and weather leader, with short flight times from the East Coast, a thriving food scene, and hotel inventory that still prices below Barcelona or Rome. Barcelona brings design, architecture, and a Mediterranean coastline within day-trip range, ideal for a program that wants a meeting day and a recovery day on the water. The Amalfi Coast is the most premium of the three, cliffside villages and private villas, best for groups of 12 to 30 that want intimacy and exclusivity over scale.

These programs are land-based, which means a planning fee applies for the custom DMC work, private venues, and off-property programming a resort handles internally. Group size runs 12 to 40 for the city-break format; above that, the logistics of private venues and ground transport get hard and a ship or resort becomes the better vehicle. The investment per person is high, driven by transatlantic air and European hotel rates, but for a leadership team that needs to align in a setting that signals seriousness, nothing else reads the same.

Ideal group size
12-40
Best time of year
April-June, September-October
Investment per person
$4,500-$6,500 all-in
Why it works
Walkable culture; private-venue gravitas; ideal for leadership alignment.
05

Full-Ship Charter Destinations

When to buy out a ship

A full-ship charter is the move for programs where sharing the venue with other guests would dilute the experience. Once your group crosses roughly 150 people, or once the program needs total control of the agenda, the branding, the dining, and the guest list, buying out an entire ship starts to make economic and experiential sense.

The destinations that work for charters are the ones with strong seven-night itineraries and reliable embarkation ports: the Caribbean out of Miami or Fort Lauderdale, Alaska out of Seattle, the Mediterranean out of Barcelona or Civitavecchia, and the Bahamas out of Port Canaveral. The ship itself becomes the destination, and the itinerary becomes a backdrop to a fully private program, custom branded signage, exclusive entertainment, private shore excursions, and a daily agenda the company controls end to end.

The investment per person on a charter is competitive once you fill the ship, because you are buying the inventory at wholesale rather than retail cabin-by-cabin, but the total commitment is large and the lead time is real. Premium charter dates book 12 to 18 months out, and the best ships in the best weeks go first. Charters are right for company-wide reward programs, milestone anniversaries, and dealer or channel-partner trips where the attendee count and the production value both demand a private venue.

Ideal group size
150+ (full ship)
Best time of year
Year-round (Caribbean/Bahamas); May-Sept (Alaska/Med)
Investment per person
$2,800-$4,500 all-in (at scale)
Why it works
Total venue control; wholesale pricing; fully private branded program.
• Common Questions

Destination selection, answered.

How do we choose a destination for a corporate incentive trip?
Start with four variables: group size, investment per person, travel time from your departure hubs, and the feeling the program needs to deliver. A 30-person President's Club reward wants a different destination than a 120-person sales kickoff. We shortlist three matched to all four, then refine on cost and availability.
What is the best destination for a President's Club trip?
Alaska and Mediterranean cruises are the classic President's Club choices. Both deliver high perceived value, premium service, and a once-in-a-career feeling without the logistical drag of a multi-city land itinerary. Caribbean all-inclusive resorts are the workhorse for broader incentive programs.
How much does corporate incentive travel cost per person?
Most corporate programs land between $2,500 and $4,500 per person all-in. Caribbean all-inclusive resorts sit at the lower end, Alaska and Mediterranean cruises in the middle, and full-ship charters and Europe city breaks at the upper end. We quote a transparent per-person range at the proposal stage.
When should we book a full-ship charter?
Full-ship charters make sense for groups of 150 and up that want complete control of the venue, the agenda, and the guest list, or for milestone programs where a shared ship dilutes the experience. Premium charter dates book 12 to 18 months out.
Which destinations work for executive retreats under 25 people?
Europe city breaks, Lisbon, Barcelona, the Amalfi Coast, and small-ship Mediterranean cruises work best for executive retreats. They deliver gravitas, walkable meeting venues, and a calmer pace than a large resort or mega-ship.
Do you handle group air and on-site logistics for these destinations?
Yes. We negotiate the cruise or resort contract, coordinate multi-city group air across every departure city, secure room blocks, design the daily itinerary, book private dining and event space, and provide on-site advisor support throughout the program. One point of contact for the entire program.
