Which cruise lines sail from Tampa

Tampa is a Western Caribbean specialist. Carnival has the largest year-round presence (Carnival Paradise and Carnival Pride), Royal Caribbean sails Brilliance of the Seas seasonally, Norwegian rotates ships through the winter, and Princess uses Tampa for select repositioning sailings. If your dream is an Eastern Caribbean or Bahamas cruise, you'll usually fly to Port Canaveral or Miami instead.

    Getting to the port

Tampa International Airport (TPA) to Port Tampa Bay is roughly 9 miles — about 20 minutes by car or rideshare ($25–35 in a typical Uber/Lyft). There are no direct shuttles operated by the cruise lines from TPA, but private car services run around $75 one-way for a sedan.

If you live in Florida, driving is the obvious move. The port is right off I-4 and the Selmon Expressway.

    Parking at Port Tampa Bay

Official port garages cost about $15/day and are walking distance from the terminals. They sell out on busy weekends, so reserve in advance through Port Tampa Bay's website if you can.

Off-site lots like Park 'N Cruise and Park 'N Go run $7–10/day with a free shuttle and are the better value for week-long sailings.

    The best pre-cruise hotels

Three luxury options stand out: the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street (newest, walkable to the port), the Tampa Marriott Water Street (slightly older, same neighborhood), and the Westin Tampa Waterside (across the channel, water views of the port).

All three are in the Water Street district — restaurants, the Tampa Riverwalk, and Sparkman Wharf are within a 10-minute walk.

What to do the day before

Walk the Riverwalk to the Tampa Bay History Center (it's right at the port), grab Cuban sandwiches in Ybor City, or take the TECO Streetcar (it's free) to Channelside. Don't underestimate Bern's Steakhouse for dinner — it's worth booking weeks ahead.
